I started VÜ with a simple frustration — and a bigger dream behind it.

I work in telecommunications. Long hours, a lot of travel, and most nights away from the people I'm building everything for. I wanted to create something of my own — a business that would eventually give me my time back. Evenings at home. A reason to stay.

Mirrors felt right. Not because they were easy, but because the gap was obvious. In New Zealand, you're either settling for something cheap and flimsy, or spending thousands on something imported and out of reach. There was nothing in between that felt genuinely premium — something that belonged in a home, not just a showroom.

So I spent a year building VÜ from nothing. Learning every next step without a roadmap. Developing the brand, the aesthetic, the name — VÜ, from the French word for "seen" — because that's what a great mirror should do. It should make you feel like your space is intentional. Like it means something.

The first sample of the Arco arrived broken. A large arch mirror, cracked in transit. Humbling doesn't quite cover it. We went back to the drawing board — added a thicker MDF back plate, reinforced the frame so it could survive the journey and arrive the way it was meant to. That moment taught me more about what VÜ had to stand for than anything else. No shortcuts. No compromises on quality.

VÜ launched in 2026. We're one month in, two mirrors, and every order matters deeply to us. Because behind every VÜ mirror is someone who wants to make their house a home — their room, their space, their own.
